This really is the perfect place to stay in the lakes. We’ve stayed here probably around 10 times now and is the first place we look at when planning holidays. Riverside cottage has everything you need for your holiday and is located close to town for you to walk in. The railway path to Threlkeld is on your doorstop too. Simply perfect.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions over the last few years.Always a joy to be off to Keswick for the New Year knowing that the cottage will be more than adequate for our needs.It is warm cosy,parking for two cars off road, pub opposite,small supermarket garage five minutes walk.Keswick town center 15 minute walk.We would highly recommend Riverside Cottage for a holiday.

Riverside cottage is simply perfect! We’ve stayed here many times now and I’d always our first choice when visiting the lakes. The cottage itself is beautiful both inside and out and the location is excellent. It has everything you’d need for either a short or longer stay, with a very well equipped kitchen. The beds are super comfy and the rooms are all of a good size but still feels cosy. The river at the side and back of the cottage is a delight. I cannot fault riverside (or Lydias cottage next door) at all. We cannot wait to stay again. Adam & Sue

Accommodation was fabulous, very clean, lovely and warm, and heating was great. Very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking etc. Private parking space at the front of the cottage. Have stayed before and would love to stay again. Just a 10 minute walk into the town . Highly recommended,

The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and welcoming lemon drizzle cake wonderful. Well equipped and comfortably furnished. It would be hard to better its position-fabulous views as it sits on the side of River Greta with view points from the two patio’s and most windows. Private parking and approx a 10 minute walk to Keswick centre also many walks directly from the property are available. Good communication from the owners and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend.

Another great week in this perfect cottage which has everything you could wish for. Parking at the cottage is a real bonus and there is also a bus stop just a few yards from the cottage. Already booked another stay.

The cottage was delightful, very tastefully decorated and lovely and clean. Weather was perfect so it was lovely to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and look at the river. We will definitely go again. Very easy walk into Keswick.

This cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped. It was very clean and had a tasty, homemade cake awaiting our arrival. The owners are attentive and helpful. The view at the back is beautiful and we had numerous sightings of the kingfisher.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay at Riverside Cottage and Michael and Daphne were lovely hosts. Daphne's homemade lemon cake was such a treat on arrival so much so I came home with the recipe! The location is so tranquil and the sound of the water lulled us to sleep at night! The cottage is tastefully decorated and very homely. We loved having the stable door open in the kitchen so we could hear the sound of the river...so relaxing! The cottage is in a great location, within walking distance to Keswick centre and sitting outside on the patio right on the riverside is scenic and relaxing. While there saw a heron and a deer beside the cottage. The cottage is a real home from home with all the facilities and equipment you need for a self-catering break and the beds are extremely comfortable.

The lovely and cosy cottage is perfect for a longer stay in this area. It's located beside the river, you have plenty of space to sit outside while watching birds and calm down with the burble of the river. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need and the whole cottage is very comfortable and superclean. The shower is modern and spacious. We felt very well from the first step inside and enjoyed our welcome-cake. It's just a short walk to the centre with shops, pubs, museums and a nice old cinema, where you can have a good time on rainy days. We can recommend the cottage without any limitation.

Lovely cottage in tranquil settings. The court yard at back was beautiful to sit by for breakfast or dinner. Easy walk into Keswick via old railway line. The cottage is situated very well to get around the area. We have booked again for next year!

Lydia's River Cottage exceeded all our expectations. It had everything we needed for our week in the Lakes District and Keswick was a great place to base yourself. The cottage was very quiet and we had a great nights sleep. Strongly recommend you stay here.

We love Riverside Cottage and have stayed there many time. It is in a great position for the town, only a short walk away. We love its position next to the River Greta and the selection of birds you can watch from there. Also nice to be able to leave your car safely locked at the front of the property. The kitchen is well equipped and the bed is very comfortable. A lovely home from home. Can’t wait to come back again.

We have had a fantastic stay in Lydia’s River Cottage. It is quiet, cosy and clean. Everything we needed was there and the large parking space at the front was a great bonus. We loved sitting on the terrace watching and listening to the river flowing by. The shower is excellent and the TV is smart and a good size. There’s a comfortable bed and plenty of space for clothes. We would certainly like to return to this property. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We absolutely love Lydia's cottage, have stayed several times, everything is just perfect with the added bonus of parking. This year the weather was perfect so we were able to make full use of the patio which overlooks the river. Already booked another stay.

Have been holidaying in either River or Riverside Cottages for many years and, after another very enjoyable stay recently, have already booked for 2024. The cottages are in a very peaceful location yet with the advantage of being just set back from the main road into town - an easy walk or bus ride if you don't want to use the car. Lots of birdlife on the river at the back of the cottages - do look out for the heron who arrives every evening.

Another smashing holiday at Riverside Cottage. We cannot imagine a better spot, next to the river in a beautiful setting and a short level walk to the town where there is a wide choice of eating places. Also many walks from the cottage without the need for a car or public transport., although the buses offer a good service. We shall definitely be back. Diane and David Mitchell , Exeter

We love both Riverside & Lydia's River Cottages. We try and stay at one of them at least once a year and were lucky to spend a week at Christmas in River Cottage and then again this Easter week at Lydia's. The best of both worlds and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Both are cozy and inviting, well located and maintained and within easy walking distance of Keswick Town Centre. Both Riverside Cottage and Lydia Cottage are vey comfortable, well equipped and in a great location within Keswick. Wonderful bases from which to explore the area. Keswick offers many different places to eat and some excellent shops. A real bonus to have off road parking too. Steve and Kaye

We’ve stayed at Riverside cottage a number of times as both a whole family and a couple. It is always our go to for holidays in the Lakes because it is simply beautiful. The cottage itself is a good size with everything you need for an extended stay and time we have visited, it has always been spotlessly clean. Having been a visitor to the Lake District for many many years, we genuinely wouldn’t look at staying anywhere else in the Lakes if it’s available.

Spent a lovely week in Lydia’s river cottage. A very comfortable, cozy ,modern retreat. Unfortunately never got much opportunity to sit outside on the patio beside the lovely thunderous river. Great place to come home to after a day outdoors. Lots of lovely walks. We walked around derwent lake and up to castlerigg stone circle in the snow -amazing. Up castlehead and around the town. It’s just under 10 min walk into town along the main road and just over 10 min if you cross the road through to the back of the garage and walk along the raised walkway. The garage is handy for food and drink if you need something at short notice. Lots of lovely shops, bars, cafes and restaurants in town. I would highly re recommend Lydia’s cottage for your Keswick holiday home.Lovely homemade lemon drizzle cake awaited our arrival.

A lovely, cozy cottage with all the amenities you could need. The Lemon drizzle cake on arrive was the best we have ever tasted and such a nice touch! Check in was very easy and the early arrival time was helpful. The cottage sits in a perfect location with just a short walk to Keswick town, yet is near lots of walks and bike trails. Great quick communication from Daphne and Micheal. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we would definitely return and recommend the cottage to others. Kate and Elliott :)

We are frequent return visitors previously staying at Lydia's cottage which we love. Although this Christmas we decided to try Riverside Cottage because it has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as we had family accompany us for the festive holiday. We were not disappointed, Riverside was kept to the same high standard that we have always enjoyed at Lydia's Cottage and the additional bathroom came in handy. Both cottages offer off road parking and are located side by side and overlook a river, with wooded bank on the far side providing privacy and the calming sound of run water., accompanied by the sound of an owl at night and a chorus of woodpeckers during the day. The cottages are well located on the outskirts of Keswick, with that rural feel, but are within an easy 10-15 minute walk into the town center, which has a good selection of pubs, restaurants, bespoke and retail shops. There are pleasant walks of varying degree's depending on your needs, but highly recommend the walk around Derwentwater which starts at the town center. Stunning views from the lakeside and hilltops. We have no hesitation in recommending both cottages, whether you just want a cozy hideaway to relax or use as a base to explore some of England's finest scenery. The owners Michael & Daphne are terrific and they take allot of pride in both cottages, which is evident when you arrive. Cannot wait to book up the next adventure at either Riverside or Lydia's, we love them both. Joe & Annette Hornchurch, Essex.

Back for our second Christmas at Lydia’s Cottage and once again we were not disappointed. Ideal location for a short walk into Keswick. The facilities in the cottage are second to none. One double, one twin bedroom. Bathroom has an amazing shower. Downstairs is open plan very comfortable lounge, dining and fully equipped kitchen. Central heating throughout. Beautifully located outside area with the River Greta alongside. Perfect place to chill out. Would definitely recommend. The welcome Lemon Drizzle cake …… beautiful.! We have stayed at Riverside Cottage several times. The cottage is always lovely and clean and very well equipped. The double bed is very comfortable. The kitchen well equipped with washing machine and dishwasher and access to tumble dryer should you need it. The views from the patio area is stunning. Also parking for two cars. We love it.

Lydia's River Cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The gas flame effect burner was appreciated after spending the prevous week, in another cottage, stoking up and cleaning a real log burner. The Twa Dogs opposite provided good, cheap drinks and food. We would certainly return to this cottage if returning to this area of the Lake District !

As always we enjoyed our stay at Lydia's, even thought the weather as in control. Comfortable, cosy & snug it is the same as next door at Riverside., a standard is kept high. We do believe that we have been 3 times this year and our booking at the cottages over 18 years speaks for itself. Situated as it is being very handy for a stroll into Keswick( no car parking fees) and situated in perfect peaceful surroundings with pleasant local walks especially the re opened railway track, We will be back thank you.

This was our third time at Riverside Cottage and we love staying there! We have always found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, well equipped and extremely homely. It is a great base for local walks in and around Keswick, and for exploring the mountains, as lakes and coastline of north Cumbria. Backing on to the river Greta, we were able to watch a great variety of wildlife as we drunk our morning coffee, including, on our recent visit, 2 Dippers, 7 Goosanders, and a pair of Grey Wagtails! We would have now hesitation in recommending the cottage to others, and look forward to our next visit! Thank you, Daphne and Michael for providing such excellent accommodation!

Stayed at Lydia's cottage many times which is equipped with everything you could wish for. On site parking is such a bonus in Keswick, and Keswick itself is only a 10 minute walk along the old railway line. Beautiful home from home, already booked another stay.

This was a great holiday. Lydia's Cottage was just beautiful with a particularly wonderful shower, which was very welcome after a long day in the hills. It was in a great location and the river gave us an extra dimension and our children adored the wildlife they spotted, which included an otter and several sightings of kingfishers. We had a lovely week at Lydia's River Cottage, really appreciated the comfortable and supportive beds, great shower, quality furnishings and lots of attention to detail which made it feel like a home from home. Beautiful setting next to the river. We found a path directly across the road which took us up onto the railway path into Keswick - a lovely 10-15 minute tree-lined and traffic-free walk into the town centre. Highly recommended, we would definitely return.

Such a wonderful stay at Riverside cottage. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. We made good use of the binoculars and bird book each day. It was a treat to eat breakfast on the patio while watching the herons, ducks and mergansers. The location was perfect . Within easy reach of Keswick town centre as well as convenient for exploring the Lake District.

This was a lovely cottage looking over the river. We spotted a heron and several kingfishers. It was truly a home from home, clean and supplied with everything you could need. I especially liked the small clocks on the bedside tables. The cottage was in walking distance of Keswick and we only used the car once during our stay. The beds were comfortable and firm. The parking at the front was really convenient and we used the Sapr shop which is just across the road, very handy. We would definitely return.

This was our first stay at Lydia’s cottage but we have stayed next door at riverside quite a few times. Both are just lovely. Lydia’s cottage has everything you would need for your stay and I was torn between exploring the northern lakes or just sitting on the patio at the back of the cottage just watching the beautiful river flow past. I have stayed at many properties in the lakes over the years and these 2 are our go to as a family. I can’t recommend both Lydia’s and riverside cottage enough. Lovely houses, great location and beautiful scenery. What’s not to love.

We have stayed at Lydia's River cottage many times it is always clean and welcoming there is everything you will need .there is a pup over the road .also a Garage that sells most things you need. Keswick centre is only about 15 minutes walk with lots of nice places to eat .the market is on Thursday and Saturday. There is also bus stops just outside the cottage so very convenient. A lovely cottage, ideally located within a 10 min walk of the centre of Keswick and with it’s own parking which is at a premium with the town. The cottage was beautifully presented and there was nothing that we wanted that was not provided. A great patio at the back overlooking the river Greta provided some interesting watching of a Heron fishing for tea.

Lovely clean cottage in a wonderful position a ten minute walk from all the amenities in Keswick. All mod cons including smart tv which is nice at the end of the day. Highly recommended. We will certainly return.

We have stayed at Riverside nine times and it remains firmly our number one choice,it is ìn an excellent location with good parking,it is well equiped and eveything is of good quality.We have stopped at many holiday properties up and down the country but Riverside is the one we judge all others by,this reflects the care and attention given by the owners we could happily live here without altering a single thing.

This was our second stay at Riverside and we were very glad we decided to return. Having such a fantastic view of the river and yet be within easy walking distance of all the facilities in the town is a boon, but we found it so easy to relax in the cottage after our sometimes wet and windy walks in the hills.

Really excellent accommodation, in good position, bus stops by the door, lovely patio to sit and watch river rushing by. Decent pub meals opposite in Twa Dogs, good meals Casa Bella and The George. Super walking, service buses are good. Honister Rambler bus (until end October) first class, other valley buses well worth using, saves looking for parking space. Plenty of walking round cottage, high and low, long or short. Riverside cottage has it all!

Riverside cottage is in a great location overlooking the river. We have visited the cottage numerous times over the last eight years and have always found it to be very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The new gas fire makes the lounge very cosy on a cold evening after a walk. I will certainly return in the future.

Had a lovely week cottage is spot on every thing you would need .nice for walks into Keswick only about 20 mins away also pub over the road serving food there is also a garage selling food if you want to cook at the cottage and booths in Keswick has everything. We were very pleased with the cottage it's one of the best we have stayed in thanks Annette and Mike

Cottage was clean, cosy and well furnished. Little surprised there was no liquid soap for kitchen and bathroom. The cake was lovely and a nice touch. A great cottage in a super location with off road parking, I think the owners have got it just right. Will definitely be looking to return. Thanks Steve B.

This is the perfect base for exploring this part of the Lakes and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Not only was the cottage spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable, the hosts had gone the extra mile with a welcoming homemade lemon cake, pint of milk and tea bags. Just what you want after a long drive! The riverside setting is gorgeous too, offering endlessly fascinating views whatever the weather. Highly recommended!
